FRANK ANDERSON BLILEY

March 13, 1865--February 14, 1946
Born: Wesleyville, Pennsylvania
Buried: Erie, Pennsylvania
Spouse: Lula Dawson Bliley

The photo was taken nine years after his admission to the Erie County Pennsylvania Bar for the 1900 membership photo collage.

The photo was found in the Bassett Collection of the Erie County Pennsylvania Historical Association. Bassett was a professional photographer from 1870-1904. The swirling around the head and shoulders was done by the photographer to enhance the image in the area that would be seen through the cameo cutout.

He is 35 years old in this photograph and still single! How could a handsome guy like this with such an attractive mustache keep the gals as bay?

"A man's life is an appendix to his heart."

 Frank A. Bliley
May, 25, 1886

This is a quotation by Frank Bliley from the autograph album of the graduating class of Edinboro Normal School (College), Edinboro, Pennsylvania. It was customary for graduating classmen and classwomen to make an entry in to an autograph book following the commencement exercises. This entry was "discovered" by an Edinboro University Alumni Office clerk when I requested any information that could substantiate the graduation of my grandfather at the school in 1886. She sent me copies of the page from the autograph book and a complete copy of the school's course catalog which also included the names of the graduating class. This was a most unique discovery.
